Wide Open Writing welcomes Emily Shearer.
Emily Shearer is a poet and a yoga teacher turned naïf intuitive painter turned novelist. She’s a coffee addict who likes tea. Her favorite season is fall except for when it’s winter or spring or summer. She’s fluent in French, passable in Italian, knows some Czech and can read into your soul and tell if you’re lying. Lucky for you she stinks at poker. She’s a little bit southern and a little bit euro and has half a dozen unfinished books on her bedside table but don’t call her a dilettante or she’ll deck you. Or hug you. She can’t quite make up her mind.
On Sunday, December 5, she’ll be coming at you with a whole new workshop about Making It Up. We’re all writers. For us, making it up is no big deal. It’s what we do. We create worlds on the page. So, what’s different about this WOW Writes Together afternoon? Emily will give you prompts and tricks for getting into that imaginative space when you’re too mired down or stuck to come up with original dross to spin into gold. She’ll unlock your subconscious with a yoga nidra (If you’ve worked with her before you'll remember how delicious that is.) and there maaaay be dancing.
Emily's poems have been nominated for Pushcarts and “Best of”’s, and published in Kestrel, Silk Road Review, Please See Me, jellybucket, Fiolet & Wing, emry’s journal online, psaltery & lyre, West Texas Literary Review, Clockhouse and Ruminate, among others. She is the Poetry Consultant for Wide Open Writing. You can find her on the web at https://www.bohemilywrites.net
