Remember how we declared August is “Weird Month”? Well this Sunday, how about a walk on the weird side writing monologues, dialogues and an entire play in one sitting!?

That’s the plan for August 22, 1:00PM EDT, when playwright and Middlebury College professor Dana Yeaton leads his scriptwriting session “Sparks and Spellbinders.”

Dana is winner of the Heideman Award from Actors Theatre of Louisville, and his musical Swing State was a featured presentation at the New York Musical Theatre Festival. His monologue BBQ & A With Billy Day, which appeared in the Sept. 5, 2020 WOW Blog, will premiere August 28th at the Middlebury New Filmmakers Festival.

To the WOW community, Dana writes, “Whatever your favorite genre – poetry, prose, memoir – writing for the stage is great practice for crafting language that sings, characters that pop, and stories that happen. Also great for getting out of your own way!”
