Writing the Waves:
Maine, Music, & Manuscripts
Oct 2 – 6, 2025
THE LOCATION
Writers, musicians, and artists of all stripes have long found inspiration in Maine. For many years, WOW has held retreats on Whitehead Island, a charming location with a guest house from a bygone era and an old lighthouse beside it. Who doesn’t like a lighthouse?! The way the guest house is perched on the island, it means there’s a view of the sea from just about every room. The loudest thing in this remote and gorgeous location is the ocean—we can’t turn it off, so we just let the endless waves reflect that thing in us that keeps returning to creativity.
THE RETREAT
Morning and afternoon writing workshops will nurture your natural talents and deepen your self-awareness, both of which are essential for a meaningful creative life. We’ll meet in group to explore themes of rhythm and message, embodiment, voice and tone, all elements that bring life to the written word and the songs we sing. We offer individual sessions to focus more specifically on projects you are working on and your creative life as a whole.
We share our work in group and give feedback that is specifically designed to enhance the creative process while also teaching skills that grow your ability to convey the messages that you want to convey.

FIND THE SOUL OF YOUR WRITING

She teaches creative writing in Eindhoven, Netherlands with Watershed at their summer program, Camp Cushy.
