WIDE OPEN WRITING PHILOSOPHY

• We believe that everyone has the transformational power of words within them.

• We believe that creativity is an energy that grows with sharing.

• We know how to create a safe, nurturing environment so that individuals can explore their untapped creativity. Within that environment, we help you give yourself permission to notice what you notice, to be present with whatever emerges, and then write about it

• We’ll move and write and read. We’ll write our own stories, and we’ll listen to one another’s stories. We’ll gather with the intention of bringing light and healing through the sheer power of our voices raised together in creative community.

Please join WOW for our internationally acclaimed Wide Open Writing First Sunday Write. Our session begins with introducing ourselves to each other and then an introduction to the theme.  We’ll share a writing prompt, related to the theme, and the session is paused while everyone writes for 20 - 30 minutes. You’re welcome to use the prompt however you choose or to ignore it entirely and go off on your own written journey. The session reconvenes with participants reading what they have just written. We’ll give feedback designed specifically to enhance both the writing and the experience of writing. 

Positive emotions widen our span of attention and spur creative generativity.
